RE: Info wanted on Rear Kitchen in TT

Our TT has a rear kitchen. It caused our TT to be a little light on the tongue and made it sway, but 4 50lb bags of sand up front under the bed fixed that problem.

RE: Is there an "Official" Trailering School?

sometimes I think some form of training should be required before ANYONE with a valid drivers license can hook up and tow whatever they please. Being on the road everyday I see a lot of IDIOTS out there pulling TT's cutting into traffic, weaving, and running over curbs and signs. When we go camping we like to try and get there early because we like to sit back and watch everyone back into their sites. Some people just amaze me with their lack of being able to use their mirrors and turn the wheel the right way. For those of you that CAN'T back in without a spotter.... you have no business what-so-ever pulling a trailer.

RE: Jayco makes a "quality trailer"?

Just thought that I would add, My wife is a senior nuclear quality control inspector at the plant where she works and she is also an American Welding Society certified welding inspector. and going over our TT from the tongue to the back bumper she said she would FAIL every single weld that was made... and thats a FAIL at even the LOWEST standards! Others have said its "not fair" to blame jayco if the appliances break even though jayco is the one installing junk into their junk TT's. How about if a weld fails on the tongue? are the jayco fanatics then going to once again shift the blame onto some other company? YEP PROBABLY!

RE: Jayco makes a "quality trailer"?

Jayco flat out sucks, they slap together TT's built out of the lowest quality materials and push'em out the door as fast as they can. Our 08 Jayco does nothing but fall apart and break. I am ALWAYS fixing something. SURE I could take it to the dealer to have the many many many problems taken care of BUT we camp every weekend during the summer months and don't want to wait "2 or 3 weeks". you all say jayco stands behind their products... HA! HEY JAYCO, IF YOU ARE READING THIS COME BUY BACK THIS JAYCO PIECE OF******SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY!

RE: Programmer Recommendations for 7.3 Diesel

I use a hypertech programmer on my 7.3 and LOVE IT. other programmers will give you a hotter tune but you can set the hypertech on the highest setting and leave it there. Others like superchips tell you NOT to tow in the highest setting. along with the programmer I straight piped the exhaust, upgraded the intake, and changed out the compressor wheel and compressor housing on the turbo and my truck is SMOKIN QUICK! But if im really really light on the go peddle I do see a small increase in fuel mileage over stock. Not enough to make up for the cost of all the mods though. If you do get a chip or programmer MAKE SURE you get a set of gauges, EGT at a minimum.

RE: blue tote along for fresh water storage

I bought a 30 gal RV fresh water tank and mounted a small 12v pump to it. when i get back to the campsite i pop the hood and connect the pump to my battery and connect my fresh water hose to the pump. takes about 30 minutes to transfer all the water with my tiny pump but its quiet and im in no rush.

RE: 2007 Jayco 29 BHS

Congratulations on the Jayco! I hope you have many wonderful trips in it and I sure as heck hope yours holds up better than our 08 31 RKS!!! We just returned from a 800 mile round trip to gettysburg with our TT and the interior pretty much fell apart. The medicine cabinet came off the wall, the wood holding it TO THE WALL broke and screws pulled out. trim and molding came off. a cabinet door fell off. And a few of the decorative wood/cloth thingys around the windows had screws pull right out and come crashing down.

RE: HELP! How to un-hitch my Jayco?

My junk jayco sometimes will give me a hard time trying to unlatch the coupler. I found that after I remove the spring bars if I let lower the tongue jack enough to drop the rear end of the TV a few inches it unlatches easily without having to move the TV forward or backward. Just try the latch, if its a no go drop the tongue a little and try again... still no go? lower it some more and try again. Once it unlatches just raise the tongue up and off the ball.

RE: Overnight @ Flying J or similar

whatever you do, DON'T park around back with all the trucks and take up a space that a big truck could be using. Park up front or use a wal-mart parking lot.

RE: Were the CGs crowded this weekend?

we stayed at our local state park this past weekend, they were somewhat busy but there was a lot of open sites. We head to Gettysburg CG next weekend but I hope there are some campers I can talk with !!! :W:W we leave this weekend to spend a whole week at gettysburg campground for our honeymoon, see ya there! ;) just look for the Jayco TT plastered with "JUST MARRIED" junk.

RE: switching electric for manual awning??

our junker jayco came with the carefree electric awning and we cant stand it. If its even a little bit windy it doesn't want to roll out, it will just sit there and spin letting the fabric flop around in the breeze. If you have the awning out and a gust of wind comes along the stupid thing folds up like an envelope then *SNAP* it extends back out. If you are trying to roll it up and its windy that is even more fun. When it rains the water will just pool up on the awning and we have to stand under it and push up on the fabric to get it to dump. It's just one of the many many things that we hate about our TT. I'd get a manual awning in a heartbeat but I don't want holes to fill on the side of the TT.

RE: Which one would you choose....and Hello from a Newbie

congrats on the keystone, we recently traded in our old 99 jayco for an 08 jayco and all I have to say is don't walk from the jayco RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN from it. Our 31 rks is a poorly designed $20,000 flimsy piece of crap. When we walked into this TT at the dealer we fell in love with the floor plan and since we had such great luck with our 99 we decided to stick with jayco. But it seems since 99 quality control is non existent at the Jayco plant. Things fall apart and break if you look at it wrong. The welds on the tongue and frame fail even the lowest inspections (my bride to be is a Certified Welding Inspector) heh yeah I wont be getting a free t-shirt either but if they did give me one id just burn it as im SURE it too is a piece of crap. But on the bright side I'm sure you will enjoy your keystone and have many years of memories with it! KEYSTONE ALL THE WAY!

RE: Spring bars, too much tension???

Not sure if i could move it forward or not, this tt has an enclosed underbelly. I would have to get under it someday and pull it all apart just to look and see.

RE: Spring bars, too much tension???

Service guy came out and we checked out my hitch setup and he said it looked good so we went for a test drive.. about a mile down the road he said "**** you are right she DOES SWAY". Came back home and re-checked all the adjustment and eyeballed the axles. Then he asked if the fresh water tank had anything in it, I checked the monitor panel and it read EMPTY. I asked him why it would matter because when we went to pickup the TT we asked about running with it full of water and the guy at the dealer said "Oh don't worry the water tank is dead center over the axles" Back outside he turned the drain valve for the fresh water tank and it drained for any awfully long time for being EMPTY!!! He informed me that the water tank is BEHIND the axles, 46 gallons of water takes a lot of weight off the tongue! thats about 383 pounds of poor design. Took it down the road again and it did pretty good but not great. re added my 200 pounds of sand bags to the storage area under the bed up front and she settled right down and towed GREAT. All my headache and frustration was caused by bad wiring to the sensor in the fresh water tank... I feel dumb but happy all at the same time. With our old TT we used to ALWAYS run with a full fresh water tank but I guess now I will have to haul it in the bed of my truck and use a transfer pump to get it into the TT, unless we camp someplace where we can fill up with water before setting up camp.
